These presentations will be attended by key SABC Commissioning Editors and Management. There is a growing need to interrogate the broader elements of heritage which include intangible and natural elements that speak to the 21st century challenges like: Genre Factual is offering a discussion platform to the industry and other stakeholders, an opportunity to engage with the issues of storytelling on the subject of heritage. Co-production There is therefore a need for the industry and broadcasters to explore new ways of raising funds and to develop relationships with other broadcasters and industry institutions. A key focus would be to explore ways in which we can build relationships with African broadcasters and filmmakers and develop partnerships to make films. Coproductions with other African countries would also help develop capacity in these countries to produce films. The SABC is presenting a session where we will look at the scope and different dimensions to co-productions. Speakers include Howard Thomas from Busvannah Communications and African filmmakers who will be attending the masterclasses at the festival and well as industry players.
